The acting chief of surgery is a gruff UNW medical officer named Ganz, who is nowhere, unless you're doing something not related to work,in which case he is everywhere, and always watchig

Fermia rubs her eyes and adjusts to the bright sunlight. She stands up from her slouch "Yes sir". She picks up her bag of supplies, and awkwardly moves towards where she thinks the medical tents where the bodies are proccesed for medical treatment are located.

Triage is already overwhelmed, as your eyes adjust to the light- stepping outside. There are family groups sitting in the grass outside the medical tents, the most critical being worked on in open sided surgical tents. A handful of orderlies, and civilian volunteers are doing everything they can to keep the area clean, and sterile. "Stabilize for transport" one tech says to another, as a wound is bandaged, and the gurney is wheeled to a landed cargo lighter.

Fermia schudles over nearer to the landed cargo lighter as she does so, she is alert and activly sensing if there are other Psychics amongst her. She looks over to the nearest medical assistant and jokingly asks "Does UWN ever employ Bioscyhics, do you think there are any left after the scream?"...

"If there;s any they'd be in hiding. The Remnant would have crucified anyone openly using their powers. They blame psychics for The Scream. I'd be careful using your powers here too, even post conflict"

Fermia tries to hide her shock and suprise that a regular medic chosen at random knows that she is a Psychic. "Do you really belieave in those fary tales? I think its just a goverment fabriacted story to hide advanced TL 5 pre tech." "Anyways if I had any crazy shit powers like that I dont think I would of told anyone or let anyone know."

Looking rather embarased "Ehh ya, ive had some mild memory loss, but I was told it would come back in time... I think" ... "I'm glad your reminded me, ill try not to draw too much attention to myself and my abilities."

"At least here. Once we're abroad, or back in UNW space proper, you'll be safer. We just fought a war with these people because we shelter and nurture psychics. and they wanted to wipe physics out. They're still people though, I suppose" she sighs. "Anyway, we have a mixed bag today. A few UNW soldiers with gunshot wounds, a few Remnant die hards we took prisoner, mixed injuries there. Mostly blunt force trauma from being subdued. With the civilians its mostly illness. Giving them medication they've missed due to the occupation, that sort of thing"

Fermia, with a lower voice suggests "Idea: you could give me the worst ones, and if they are already passed out and I heal them nobody will be the wiser that it was done with pshycic powers. But I would need a well sealed tent and nobody being nosy. On the forms I could just fill out standard procedure things like shrapnel sucesufully removed, ressustiation by CPR, and add a note dont remove bandages untill at least a month of healing otherwise scaring or infection may occur."

"good plan. I think one of the surgical tents has some hard walls and doors. Let's start selecting the lucky recipients shall we?"

"Yes, four will be good for today, the rest will have to be treated normally, we woudent want to treat more than that anyways otherwise we would raise too much suspiscion?" Fermia begins the selection of the lucky subjects, she is looking for ones that have passed out and are unconscious.

Those with too much pain for a conscious mind to handle it aren’t hard to spot. The worst off look to be civilian. “Right. You wheel these four in, I’ll handle the soldiers in the next tent over so I can watch the door. Call if you need anything. “

Fermia rummages around for a bitb and decides to give them a little of laughfing gass or pain killers so that once they wake up they believe they are not in pain becouse of the pain killers. With her use of bioscycis she cures them and probably spends all her effort to cure them of infections and desise if any. With the knowldege she has of healing and medicine she later fills out resonable forms thay would not get too much suspicion. (Do you want me to roll for hp healed a skills used?) If she is allowed to continue she would continue healing people without powers and use her metashycic skills to see if anyone is a psychic.

(Psychic Refinment is at lvl 0 so I guess I would only be able to detect psychic use when some uses it and is within sight. Having said that I dont think I can turn it off its like a radar thays allways on?, for the healing I have succor lvl1 and organic purification protocols)

You do not sense any powers in effect nearby. Suddenly you hear your fellow tech yelp loudly and a clatter of metal hitting the floor in the next tent

! I peek over over outside to see what the racket is all about.

The tech is on the ground gasping for air, a combat knife buried almost to the hilt in their chest. The throats of the wounded Remnant fighters have all been cut, ruby red runnels of blood collecting on the gurneys and floor. A hole has been slit into the back of the tent

"Don't remove the knife, its keeping pressure if you pull it out you'll blead to death. Who did this?" with her right hand she reaches out for her combat rifle and then also yells "Guards!" (edited)

He cannot breathe to tell you but you hear a commotion outside the tent as three UNW soldiers enter. One steps out to get sick at the scene of carnage

She asks the soldiers "Did you see anyone leave this tenet?" Fermia, makes a mental note to not loose sight of that knife "Look outside for soneone who was just outside or with gloves!" Then she acutally puts down the rifle and tries to heal poor tech. (I'm guessing that if I already commitied all my effort for the day, i cant use succor anymore?) (edited)

"We were out front getting the incoming into triage". One of the soldiers pokes his head out the back, and looks around. "Nothing. Doc what was going on here when this happened?"

Fermia Axino is visibly frustrated and deep in thought. "Don't know" She quickly says to the gaurds. "This tech here, one of our men, is dying though, and he's the only one that will be able to tell us what happened, one of you stay here, the other one go get the best medic or a lazarus patch, we can't risk looseing him if we hope to find the perpetrator!"

The wound was done with an expert's precision and you can tell that your efforts are only making him comfortable, not saving his life.

Realizing that he is a bit more comfortable but that his survival is unlikely she asks "Did you see who stabbed you? What did they look like?"

Gasping for air, he reaches for his compad, and types My...rmi...don with blood stained fingers, before fading out

Fermia calls her superior and reports the incident, mentions that the knife used and scene of the crime should probably be check for fingerprints and biometrics, if at all possible.

The area is cordoned off as a crime scene, and the knife is taken into evidence. Ganz finds you before long, for once not yelling at you for resting a moment. "Heard you had a bit of a situation over in the surgical area. They're trying to get a team together to investigate the scene. We do have a lead. I was hoping you'd be willing to follow up

There is some silence for a moment as he mulls this over. "The Myrmidons are the power armored solders mixed in with the main army. One of them, then. We should be careful who we bring this to"

"Sir, only the two of us know this, I hope that the perpetrator used the guise of a Myrmidon. I am worried if it was a Myrmidon though it would be a the political disaster if a Myrmidon killed one of our own Techs post battle."..."Is there any reason why a Myrmidon would want to do this?"

(the tech you tried to save was a UNW soldier, his patients were enemy combatants who had been taken prisoner. The tech was basically just killed because he was a witness)

"Taken from.....factory arterial" he says, looking down at the deployment orders from the last few days "This company was rotated off the front there. Two vehicle IED attacks had them a bit spooked. PRisoners were taken from the same place"

Fermia thinks holly fucking shit, fucking fuck, what the, how did I even. I have no fucking clue what I am doing "Yes sir, inmdieatly sir." She then assumes charge of her duties and motions to the two gaurds and the other medical asisitant who was outside to come into the room. "Guards, erm, you heard the commander, we will be giving physicals to the elite guards, erm in their armor, and one of them is a murder..." She then looks at the medical assistant that was outside her tent "I need you draft a document requesting the all factory arterial myrmidons to presnt themselves immideatly for a rutine medical" she then looks at the guards, "you, go fetch me another box of gloves and several zip lock bags" she then looks for another location in the camp on tmher compad and selects the location to run the medical test, then looks at the last gaurd "you, just follow me around ill need some spare hands." (In general, she gives out orders, hides her insecurity, and gets a new tent ready for the medical exams, evidence collection)

It takes about an hour for the site to be selected, to get set up, and for the platoon commander of the Mydmidon unit in question to hand out the medical chits (sheet of paper you have to sign showing they actually went to the doctor and didnt just fuck around for a couple hours) The first handful begin to show up and patiently wait, their armor left behind for repairs and recharging.

I messege my commander that their armor is being repaired and recharged, might be prudenr to make shure they are not power washed or anything.

(Generaly speacking the plan will be to shake their hands, get blood pressure readings, height, weight, check their eyes, ask if they feel pain etc... Maybe even check for radiation and then make sure to put the gloves in a zip lock bag and sign off the documents they came with.)

(I'm dont think I know as much as she does about medice and neither of us thay knowledgable about frensic science, but I was thinking that while inspecting them of I saw any blood I would wipe it off or touch it with my gloved hands. The handshake would also collect fingerpints.) (edited)

He shakes your hand "Hey doc. Everything okay? This was kind of sudden. some of the squad is a little spooked. Did we get exposed to something?"

(I dont think you need a huge amount of blood those forensic shows allways portray it like we found this small sample of blood on the cars carpet etc... Anyways...)

He goes through the routine pre-workup procedure, height, weight, the normal business all gone through

"Perfect, let me sign your form and make a copy of it and you'll be set to go" (lol, if there is something unusual, let me know maybe they got a concussion or something.) "Next please"

The next 3 hours pass as you make contact with each member of the platoon. You conventionally (since youre out of effort) treat some scrapes and minor wounds that they've simply not had some time to address, and more importantly, youre able to get some kind of physical contact with each of them.

I count how many I treated and how many where supposed to show up.

All 27 able bodied members of the platoon have shown up. (their top strength is 40, so their casualty rate between wounded and dead, is pretty high)

I grab the 27 coppies of the forms, along with their urine samples and most importantly, the gloves and put them in a safe box, with the gaurds, we take them over to a secure location so that forensics can analyze it later.

The pathology lab here is as close to secure on the frontier as you’ll be able to get, but it is guarded by UNW regulars, not myrmidons.

It’s an hour of paperwork to check the samples in, but everything is secured in good order

Fermia quickly washes up a bit and prepares to report to Ganz. As she does so she also looks at the backlog of duties she is behind on due to this* whole incident. (edited)

It is early morning when Ganz finally has a message back to you. “Armory clerk and I spent the night looking at knives. One is missing. They’re not individually signed out by platoon members. Quantities are just checked in and out but we know it’s one of them now”

"Once forensics gets back to me with the blood, hair, fingerprint samples and whatever else they look at ill report back. Is there anything else let me know."

She also asks, "For the record, what is my role and ranking in this, am I leading the investigation, yesterday I felt like I kinda went above my rank with giving soldiers orders." (edited)

You have been selected for an Ad-Hoc investigations and law enforcement unit, report to me from now on. The guards are tasked with acquiring cabinets and office space, the medical assistant will assist in administrative stuff in addition to whatever medical stuff we need to do... Once seated on a desk Fermia drafts and sends the following message to the Myrmidon general: UNW REQUEST FOR DOCUMENTS To: Myrmidon Classification: *sensitive and classified, ongoing investigation Requesting Body: UNW Ad-Hoc Internal Intelligence Agency (IIA). Document Request: Personnel files of surviving soldiers (records show 27) who were fielded in the factor arterial battlefield. Fermia thinks (things are escalating quickly...) She then signals her guards "We will be joining Gantz to meet with the Myrmidon commander once i get forthcoming documents from forensics. We will be apprehending the perpetrator, treat this situation as any other that involved armed and dangerous criminals." Once she gets the documents on her com, she heads over to meet Gants.

Gants is waiting near the field headquarters , and nods as you approach.

Fermia quickly glanses at the test results on her screen, in an akward stance as she balancses several things in her person. "Here, look, there was a match with subject #4, he was recently promoted, my men and I are ready"

“Let’s try to talk first. Even if he refuses us, violence here is going to see us all dead”

"Okay, sounds good."

You enter the command tent and he is behind a desk. Two guards stand behind him

Fermia stands there for a second waiting for Ganz to start, but upon realizing he wont she does "Good afternoon, gentlemen This is UNW Acting chief of surgery Ganz, and I am Fermia Victoria Axino, Ad-Hoc IIA Commissioner. We are here regarding yesterday's incident with the death of our Technician. Our intelligence shows irrefutably that it was one of your troops who used the murder weapon to perform the murder. We would appreciate your cooperation with apprehension." (edited)

"We wouldn't have come without it" she hands him an executive summary and a data stick with the exhibits and attachments. "Please, take your time"

“Have a seat. As you said. This will take time”. He dismisses his two guards. “So you’re convinced this was someone acting out a fit of passion then ?” He says as he leafs through the lab data

"Most likely yes, but that would be established in the trial. We are here pirmearly for the death of our technician, and becouse this man could be a dangerous criminal. What we have here is more than enughf to charge him; however, the trial will determine if he is guilty."

He stands. “Orders on this from up top are pretty clear. I’ll come with you. Ensure this is done properly”

"Thank you for your coaperation" She stands up, and gets herself and her soldiers ready for a crimminal arrest and heads over with however many gaurds she thinks is appropriate, probably 2.

Heading into the barracks, the Myrmidon sergeant moves to the bunk where the corporal in question is sitting.

fermia is mildly confused, she was envisioning, you are under arrest, anything you say may be used againt you in court, you have a right to an attorney, charges will be determined within 72 hrs, but she listens to what the sergant and solider have to say and is alert (edited)

The soldier stands and takes the folder of case evidence from his commander. There is an awkward silence as he spends several minutes leafing through it and examining some sections inside. Satisfied. He shuts the folder and seems resigned to his fate. The sergeant draws his pistol and fires a round through the accused’s forehead. “Orders from the top” the myrmidon sergeant says. “Justice has been done. Please accept our condolences for the murder of your squad mate. Commander Cole and general Adonis will be informed”

Fermia stands there for a few seconds "Thank you for assisting, I would have appreciated a more thorough briefing on your orders from up top, not that we would have stopped you or thwarted your plans. Your authority in this jurisdiction does supersede mine after all. I will let my superior know that the Myrmidon opted for an expedited trial, verdict and execution of capital punishment." Moment later she calls Ganz "Ganz, the general shot him point blank, apprehension won't be possible, sorry to for the mission failure, I would like to have a brief meeting with you if at all possible however."

"I felt creative..., ill spend a few days helping out here, in terms of staff hrs between the two gaurds and the nurse we are at least 20 hrs behind so theres that. But yes I think id like to work with Delgado, unless you have pressing matters that you would like me to attend to... Are you ok if I contact Delgado at the end then of the week?"

“The sooner the better so they have time to make some arrangements”

"Thank you" Fermia can now use succor with impunity, she uses it to heal all the unconscious civilians that arrive, and all the injured troops, using the same setup from before with a large closed off tent office. Assuming nothing unexpected happens, she will talk to Delgado in a few days time.

@opscomm (my charcter is intrested in joining the inteligence agency of UNW, she dosent have any elavorate plans other than she thinks she can help save more people by being well informed and premtively stopping threats before they occur than by healing people in tents. Attachment A - Resume A very enthusiastic resume written with an european format showing her picture at the top left. Attachment B - Previous Employers Positive recommendations, of interest was her first employer at a medical institute, the Deputy Director of the institute was a previous General of some recognition, mentions that she was found in a pod found by Dr. Siegfried and she has potential to develop into an adept Biopsychic. Attachment C - Physical Strength - Normal Reflexes and agility - Excellent, above 2.5 sigma from the norm. Endurance - Excellent, above 2.5 sigma from the norm. Notes: Upon inspection her bi-symetric organs are flawlessly identical, not a health concern however. She has mild amnesia, we performed a brain scan and compared it from previous ones, there is more brain activity, as expected by her previous doctor. Attachment D - Physiological Intelligence - Good, above 1.5 sigma from the norm. Notes: She has mild amnesia, recent brain scans show brain activity is slowly increasing, as expected by previous doctors. Interesting how well she has re-integrated to society after being woken from sleep pod with little to no memory of her past life. My best guess for this is that she may have had a similar role before and naturally feels comfortable fulfilling the roll under a military or well structured institution. As time elapses, her amnesia condition may completely resolve itself returning her old memories in the process, which might be memories of pre-scream events. Worst case scenario this may change her personality if they are very traumatizing - something to keep in mind. Lastly, although she does not show any particular talents in administration and bureaucracy (other than she is intelligent), she genuinely enjoys filling out forms and from time to time, her language and customs may come off as delusions of grandeur, however, she is able to distinguish between fantasy and reality so no concerns about delusions. In space a storm is brewing and it’s spectacularly beautiful. A shuttle lands in a field not far from you and it’s hatch opens

Quick strides to it, and a brief introduction, she would enter after permision is given.

"Welcome aboard. We're going to dust off quickly and head in the Sumati direction. We're not sure what happened to our contact there, but you're the closest one who can respond"

Fermia reads over all of it if possible and does small talk to the crew but is mostly eager to get to the planet.

The flight is a few days of travel, before emerging over Sumati. The world below is devoid of many of the radio signals youd expect to find on an equivalent tech world- even Cruesa, despite its broken infrastructure, had more intact.

They ignore you and behind making broadcasts to the orbital platform for permission to approach the planet. Ten minutes go by before it is given, the Peerless class platform getting larger and larger in the display. “Prepare for atmospheric entry. Please strap yourself in” one calls back

In her head they probably think I'm some annoying girl She straps in.

The shuttle begins making atmospheric descent, and a point appears on the main scanning screen, duplicated back to the crew compartment- it shows that it is a distress beacon

Fermia takes note of it and waits until she is addressed by the captain, or anyone in the ship.

With apple slices in her mouth she mumbles "we should get permission from Emaje and his kingdom to conduct recon, I heard he is friendly twords UNW and we dont want to piss off that peerless platform so no flying there yet." Swallows the apple slice "Lets talk with the politie's air control district, patch us through please pilot"

"Affirmative, I can hear you load and clear, we willl search for a landable site and send you our location" Fermia looks at the pilot "search for a landing site nearby. " then goes back to the radio "any emergency or threats we should know about, over."

"Only heard some hunting dogs off in the distance, over"

"Understood, are you sure they are not wolves? If they are a large pack consider using fire, stay cautious. I will contact you soon when we land. We will keep this channel open if you need to contact us. Over." (edited)

"Get here as fast as you can, I'm not going to make any promises. There are too many for us to deal with if they are hostile and we alert them to our presence. We will try to relocate to an open landing area after they pass, out."

"You can't run away from them, they have hounds and they will find you, you cant fight them, there are 20 of them, the best option is to be friendly, offer them food or something. However, if your assement is different just keep us informed of your location. Worst case scenario they apprehend you and ill have to request a full company to rescuew you, i dont think they ave any reason to kill you.,over" (Can I triangulate the location of her call, can her device tell us its exact location?) If there is time fermia, with the help of the copilot and her postech metatools, dig a small hole, place the C-4 under there (facing up), fill it back up with dirt and place the crate of 500 rations above it about 50 meters from the landing site. Then get back to the atmoflier and set the C-4 to detonate oppon the press of a button and wait for the pedestrians to arrive...? (edited)

The flight is three days to cruesa owing to the strange metaspace storm that is receding. The two platforms floating above the planet guard your approach down to floating city hub A. “Two platforms....” the pilot says allowed to his second in command. “I thought there were three”

The shuttle lands at hub A, staying on the ground long enough for both of you to disembark , before lifting off again

I head over to the appropriate location and write down the events that happened, and also run a model of a c-4 explosive 50 meters away from a shuttle on the compad becouse if it was too close I shouldent do that again and feel I slightly guilty/worried.

The file name is saved as "ExplosiveCats.exe" and she woukd let it run for a few hrs after she manages to write down the equations and computing processes for it.

The blast with that kind of powdered explosive in the air was far too close to the shuttle. In 3 out of every 10 simulations there is a crash due to the pressure wave created by it

That's very concerning. Noted. Also, Ooo. I like this program, ill run diferent programs simulations later when i have better hardware and software.

Explosive cats runs for a few more times before shutting down. Back on Creusa, you find yourself back amid the bustling medical section of the displaced citizen/peacekeepers camp

Once in cursea, she would give the letter to the appropriate pilots, if UNW Y3M3 news has gotten to her planet, she would read it and make note of the two new disciplines.

(Yeah the news is sent to everyone. Up to you as far as what comes next, if you have something you want to check out we can do that otherwise i can come up with a mission)

(If Gudrun is still an option for her she would go there to speak with Marcion, if that opportunity has sailed by she would simply help out Ganz in whatever missions come up, and lastly, if he dosent have any missions she would ask permission to leave and meet up with Dr. Siegfired, maybe he knows more about the pod he resued her from.)

Fernia - before leaving - would sell her motorcycle and buy a hoverbike, with her spare money she would aquire as many spare parts and computer components for future additions to her hoverbike. During the long voyage she would use use her knowledge and programing skills to draft plans for upgrades to her hoverbike, although she would most likely need some mechanics to build it later for her. (Only have money for the ghost driver right now, and I dont think I have all the skills necessary, so that would up the cost by at least 5%, (5k+1k)*1.05=6300 is that acceptable? Ghost driver gets close to VI, so let me know of you veto it)

In the meantime she will play around with the ghost drive's software and see if she can learn anything with it, and start curating a library of softwares for later use or amusement.

(Mechanically game wise right now? Probably nothing. But in thr future if the power that be allow and all the moons and stars align, would program 3 or 4 and pre tech salvage help with the reapir or development of a VI or AI? In help I was informed that There are intelligent machines out there, just not PCs.)

(A few PCs have AI or VI companions, you only need fix-1 to build the shell but the AI cores have all been found rather than constructed)

(Quantum computing needed to give them a personality and not just a drone has been lost, for the foreseeable future anyway)

I just dont see her as a welder, a cnc operator or a greasy technician with spare wrenches in her back jean pockets but more of a well educated college graduate who models, drafts, and designes stuff thats why im taking program instead of fix, and I'm also taking know instead of fix becouse i was told know was requiered for the manufacture of medicine stuffs (and not fix). The trip passes back to Gudrun and although you’ve played with the ghost driver program a bit you haven’t been able to get much from it

(Ok cool) Fermia is anxious about the prospect to visit the academy and for the interview; however she first looks for a workshop to get her vehicale in proper working order.

She walks out of the shuttle with her paked matte black hovercycle on the side. As she does so, its almost imposible for her to hide her hop as she meanders a little to get some sights and see the enormity of the city that she's about to enter. (Do I land in the stellar metropolis megaproject or on planet?)

The stellar capital is a few hexes to the southwest of Gudrun, its the space station thing on the territory map) The former fabricator's office is closed now, its former head in the news as a traitor, but you're given instructions to a workshop owned by someone known as "Pops" and his work seems to be respected based on what you're hearing

Every moment Fernia feels more confortable with the big city husstle and bustle, ocasionally it will remind her of hazy short flashbacks, going to college, seeing skyscrapers, and being in a central powerhouse of production, industry, and services. "Yes!" She says to herslef this is what i was looking for hopefully I can get a good and reliable relationship with this Pops! she heads over for a consultation. "Hello, is this Pops place?"

The workshop is a large production center, and through the open front bay door you see hundreds of weapons all being worked on at once, along with modifications to a few other bikes, or minor repairs on vehicles. A foreman with a scar running down his right cheek walks over. "You've got the place. What'll you be needing today?"

She motions to her hovercycle "I'm looking for someone who can treat her well, want some enhancements added, if the work is good, I might come back for more work for you; its going to be a ghost driver today"

"Ghost Driver, very good, stock price for the work, but we can have her back to you tonight"

"How, thats faster than I expected, I dont think ill even haggle" Fermia leaves and then looks at the information for the Psyici Academy and how to set up appointments and tours.

The academy has done a large amount of work promoting itself, and its headmaster has encouraged anyone seeking a visit to simply drop in.

Fermia takes public transportation, with her hands free she is now taking pictures and talking to locals ocassionaly.

Everyone is friendly enough on your way over to the academy. A small shrine has been built off to the right side of its steps. A diminutive, 30ish year old Korean woman's picture in black and white is inside a wreath made of something like pine. white candles with flickering flames, and prayers written in a number of languages for her safe return are pinned to it and set on the ground around it, under the candles. A hunched and very old pattern custodian bot sweeps snow from the Academy steps.

Fermia looks at it briefly, the whole experience is a bit overwhelming. She rembemers a saying about psyhcics and how they are bound to pass each other's paths at some time. She contines through the halls. Above all else she is eager for the potential poetic meeting between a pree scream and and post scream psychic with so many questions. Are they difernet? Are they stronger? She strides forth more confidently now. Her more competivie personality wants to gauge their strength...

Fermia is vigilant and commits effor for the scene to use Mindtracing. She bows likewise. "I am honored to meet your aquintance headmaster Regulus Fate, thank you for your time, I dont think ive told you whom I am yet, I am Fermia Axino" Now she stands tall and stern. "I hope it was either a) your both extremely keen with your pshycic refinement and quick enough to sense it within seconds; or B, it was precognition that lead you to know about the last word of that sentence. Becouse I am not sure I would be quick to forgive you from using telethapy or myself from not sensing it." [End turn]

There are no current psychic effects you can sense for mindtrace to connect with. "I would not use telepathy on you without consent, even if I had the skill. The venue for whatever the flyer was describing is a run down warehouse , one of four, in a shipping yard on the far north side of town. There used to be an office here as well but it’s empty now. Small groups in 2’s and 3’s head for the warehouses, all wearing dark clothing. Some have backpacks. Others have filter masks or goggles strapped to necks or hanging from straps

(The only thing I would have with me apart from the under armor, compad and my neutral color clothing would be my advanced small melee weapon. However bike and drone would be within less than a minute's range, somewhere.) (edited)

The warehouses around this one are all about the same size as each other. A small group is clustered around the door of the warehouse indicated on the flyer and two security guards are patting people down for weapons before allowing them entry.

You enter and the podium is easily visible, as it is raised and the crowd is being kept back from it about 10 feet. More plainclothes security, you can see 4 from where you are, are helping to keep the cordon. you don't notice anything like bathrooms, or any easily visible guards aside from those in front of the stage

I make really small talk and ask for simple things like do you know whos speaking today, how long will the event take, is there anything else going on afterwards while I wait for the event to start.

Different names for The Mailed Fist are given to you as you ask various people who is speaking tonight, though a few look suspicious of you being at a rally and not knowing what the basic idea behind it is. Your partner looks very uncomfortable at all the questions, and sidesteps several paces away. His eyes keep darting to the main doors. As the speech is just starting she also thinks: 140 hrs ago I was told that in 240 hrs there would be a big event and that the Mailed Fist was to be taken down before then. That means I have about 100 hrs to take them out before mission failure. The knowns I have so far are that they make little use of vehicles, yet they manage to get around. Even though there are monitor drones across the entire city. Also, there is no way a man in Power Armor walking on the street or taking public transit would not have been spotted. She then has a tangential though as she often does: Gophers have many predators including snakes, coyotes, skunks, and more. Gophers do not venture too far from their underground infrastructure, and for even more security from natural predators, feed holes are created near above ground food sources. These holes allow for the gopher to feed without being any further than a body’s length from the entrance – limiting the time on the surface and decreasing the chance of becoming prey... The speaker begins discussing how the UNW is doing so much more than simply occupying territory, citing the pointless relocation of people to the moon, and the subsequent bulldozing of perfectly good habitation blocks that were not even damaged in the fighting. I don't think about what would of happened if I was noticed doing that bullshit in a room with 300 people ready to kill me. The meeting begins to break up, and the would be partisans begin leaving in the groups they arrived with. Your informant is still nowhere to be found. As people begin filing out, the Mailed Fist and his officers begin to leave themselves, heading for an office in the back of the building, rather than out the front with everyone else.

The bike begins moving out, and you hear a loud bang from the office, as a metal grate is pulled to the side. You see a few shadows disappearing out of sight through the dirtty glass

"You ok Redline?" Also, I send out another messege to authroities almost everyone is out of the warehouse, officals left through the back, is anything going on in the tunnels?

The message is not answered but as the bike pulls up you do not see any organized UNW response on the surface. The few groups who left before you are dispersing, heading back to the legitimate half of their double lives.

I look for manholes near this area.

The fragmented plans beginning to come through show one at the back of the warehouse, and faintly you hear some kind of popping noise belowground

Gunfire?!?!?!?!? "Hubble, Redline lets go to that manhole" I take out the metatools and take out a crowbar, and remove it as quick as i can.

As she struggles with the manhole cover she mentions "Hubble, i forgot, stop looking for vehicles, look for people running away from the wARREHOUuuuse" as she yanks on the crobar-like tool. (edited)

I fumble around with my bike's cargo trying to find my lazer rifle and some type a bateries, shoving aside countelss of other junk and electronics, I choose not to grab and don my heavier armor or my demo charge - there is no time for that. "Hubble, just broadcast all movment you see to UNW" I look for some badge, pin it to my shirt and jump/enter into the manhole.

You splash down into a putrid water collection room, where algae bobs in thick nets near the surface. You see flashes and heargunfire coming from a tunnel junction to the north, along with the screams of the combatants. The air reeks of cordite. The tunnel itself has ledges on its sides wide enough for a person to walk on going single file, but there is no cover, and the slowly running, and questionably deep water runs down the middle of the tunnel

I sprint towords the gunfire stopping only at wichever intersection or corner is there before I walk into enemy or friendly fire.

To the right, four UNW soldiers have rifles firing , down to the left side of the corridor, where the mailed fist and his lieutenants are slowly backing away, hoping to get to safety. two of the fists men are dead, along with six of the UNW squad that encountered them. You are deep enough underground where radio traffic is not transmitting, you hear the squad net completely dark, the soldiers here relying on shouting

If I can see then I burst fire at the most exposed mailed fist man, yelling "drop your weapons your surrounded"

The shot ricochets off the street armor they're wearing, spinning one of the Lieutenants around. He catches himself on the tunnel wall, and rights himself. The UNW squad survivors follow up, concentrating their own shots on the power armored form of the first himself

The three heads snap toward her, as alarm systems in their armor sound, whooping calls down the tunnel, adding another layer of cacophony to the already intense combat. "Psychic! She's a psychic!" The fist roars, as he turns his attention to Fermia. The UNW squad takes advantage of the chaos, and the Remnant preoccupation with you, presses their attack. A volley of shots tear the mailed fist apart, the last shot taking his head off at the neck, and it bounces away down the corridor, splashing into the turgid water. His remaining two followers, fanatic and practically rabid at the death of their leader, resolve to die sending one more psychci to the oblivion where she belongs

Fermia reacts in full incoherent fight mode responce "AAAAHHAHAHH!!!" I FRANTICALLY HEAL MYSELF TO FULL HEALTH WITH SUCCOR AS I VIOLENTLY TRY TO SHAKE FREE OF WATEVER BED I AM IN. You can hear aides and a doctor a few tents down already getting up in surprise to rush down and investigate. You finish your frantic work, and dress, seconds before they burst in. You can sense their relief seeing you up and walking, and not in bed with something grisly they hadn't accounted for. Your compad displays the date- three days from your operation in the tunnels.

"Where is Ganz?"

"Resting, right now. He's been covering multiple shifts for days on end. Poor man needed a break, and so do you. You're lucky to even be alive"

"Sorry, ive never been hospitalized before. I'm fine, except for the system strain. Are there any remnant here?"

"Only civilians, no soldiers have been brought in since the initial fighting"

Looking more relieved "I suppose I could help a bit, but let me know once Ganz wakes up, I need to speak with him" she would volunteer her servises.

Returning to Gudrun with a firm understanding of Ashen One under your belt, you set down over the main city of Central, orbital lighter's engines still cooling in the airport. A handful of others have landed with you and are filtering out of the airport

I would seek out a consultant to go over what I need to get the pharmasudical production back in line. I would also look if anyone responded to my flatmate advertisments.

There have not been replies for a flatmate, apartments in Central and the other human cities are very affordable, and most families, or individuals prefer to keep to themselves if possible. The nano-fabricators needed to make the nano-machines instrumental to pre-scream drugs have all been lost, or destroyed as a result of the scream, and the consultancy is not even sure where you would have to look to try to find something like one.

Assuming i got these nano-fabricators how much funding would i need, how much staff would i need, what would be a good planet to start such a business?. Are there any old records of planets, ships or otherwise that had asccess to nano-fabricators in old newspapers or registries avilable at a Lybrary?

(Could I spend a few days in conjuction with a Know roll to get more information?)

We are fine on help. We're getting plenty of support with the current refugee intake operations. We have precious little resource to go around, something worth funding would need to be brought back from your explorations before serious talks on the matter could commence

Fermia would propose to UNW goverment and investors a plan to go exploring and scavaging for medical pre tech, possibly at Musheera. Plan would highlight the intrest that the medical field would have in such endeavors if pre tech for it were found.

Likewise, something actionable needs to be found before they can spare the money, or a ship and crew. The UNW fleet lost most of its vessels during the war for Creusa, and isn't willing to lightly risk those few that remain.

(Looks like I need way more than 10,300 credits) Fermia reluctantly plans to keeps her job at the inteligence agency, and files the resignation later away for another day. Knowing that every credit will help she also sends applications to hospitals all over Gudrun asking if any are willing to pay for the servises of a Biopsychic user. In regards to Nullification, it is a sister discipline to that of metapsionics discovered by a young Piggen whom I believe is currently the only nullifier in the UNW. (At 100km/hr, the largest island except the pangea in the middle would take me 18 hrs, minor logistical issues exist, but i think it would be reasonable if I dedicate 5 nights to it, and make some shortcuts, obviously I woudent waste time mapping every km of it and I might spend more time monitoring a port village or town for example. The highest threat here I think would be if they have a fast and agrasive navy or air force with good sensors.)

Fermia stands in the dock looking at the twilight glow as the sun setts while she waits to be escorted to the U-Boat. She stares at the distance somewhat intruiged at how she got to the point to accepting to all of this, maybe the thrill of it all, maybe the money, maybe a little of both.

A small launch boat with a motor comes to carry you out to the submarine out to sea , and five armsmen are aboard to provide security. A junior officer rating is likewise in the boat , scowling at the duty. It’s rigid rubber hull taps the dock and the crew work to offer to help you aboard

Rigid rubber? That sounds funny. She hands them a small bag and then hops in with her backpack. "Hello crew, I'm Fermia, we all ready?"

"We are. Short ride out to the sub, and then about a night submerged before you;'re close enough to the island, rest while you can, I'm sure it'll be in short supply once you get there"

Fermia enters the rigid rubber and within its interior finds a comfy space to to rest.

A handful of sailors look out at the horizon with binoculars, and another two are clustered at the top of the conning tower, working on what looks to be some kind of a weather report. A small hatch opens, and a rope ladder is unrolled, the bottom rung resting neatly against the side of the boat

"What kind of weather reports have you been getting recently in these parts?" She would ask before approaching the rope ladder.

"Calm seas tonight and tomorrow. We might have a storm after that, perfect to help screen your entry"

"Sounds good to me" "Apart from locals not talking about them, have you ever seen or heard anything about these people?"

"We wouldn't need an intelligence agent if we knew anything. We were under the impression you're essentially making first contact and seeing what they're about"

No one has anything else to say, and you're bundled aboard. Passing through the cramped below deck passages, and there appear to be three decks inside the large undersea craft, you sense yourself being lead toward the bow, passing through a few watertight bulkheads that are currently open.

"Sounds good to me, but I hope all this stealth is for nought, and that obserbations of this people prove to show them to sensible, id much rather end up being first contact and establishing a peaceful start for future diplomats. I mean, they can't ALL be murderous cultists or the like, can they?"

Fermia sets an alarm and rests. She has a nightmare where someone she cant recognise is telling her that she dosent have any parents, the unplesantness dosent stop untill the alarm wakes her up.

It beeps several times and loudly right on schedule. There is a gentle tap at the bulkhead

The world becomes very dark as the metal cowling is riveted back into place. The front viewpanel lights up as the battery power is connected, and you see nothing but blackness projected on the screen, as the tube is still shut. You hear a gentle rap on the hull of the pod, for good luck.

Fermia rembers being put in the cryogenic pod that saved her from the scream, she also remembers one of Regulus fate's advice "Be wary of tracing unknown minds, I knew a man who died that way". never mind that, I have focus on what is to come now She hangs on for the sleek aqueous voyage and readies herself to swim, run and hide once she gets to the cost. The Crafts sensors flood with information from the outside and your instinctively right the hollowed out torpedo after its launch. The storm has come ahead of schedule but below the waves as you are it hardly matters. The beach is 15km away.

The torpedo's power shorts out 30m from shore, in water deep enough to allow it so sink. The panel blows off the top, allowing you to swim out toward shore. You quickly spot through the driving rain a dense thicket of trees and bushes a short run up the beach

I sprint there. I take out the survey scanner and begin to analyse the atmosphere and soil for radiation or trace metadimensional interference cononly used in modern fields of war. Then I look for a large rock or solid object and use it as a reference benchmark to start a very roughf survey as I travel (im assuming the survey scanner would also have, you know survey equipment, such as the equivalent to a total station, 3D scanner, and lenses/binocular/telescope optic gear and that kind of stuff?)

A multipurpose scanner that can take atmospheric and gravitic readings, provide basic chemical analysis of samples of up to one cubic centimeter in size, and record up to two hundred hours of video information or ten times that

There are no anomalous readings as you begin reviewing the data coming in. This corner of Sumati is atmospherically no different than any other

I would ~~take out~~ remove and pack my vac suit then, and then head to the nearest mountain to get a better vantage point. (edited)

The island is dominated along its eastern coast by a mountian range, and you set off toward them, moving as stealthfully as you're able. Alpine trees grow at higher elevations while the bottom is dominated by thorny scrub brush, with winding natural hewn game trails leading up them. The paths are gravely with centuries of eroded rock, and the grade is steep. You estimate a climb to the summit will take about a day if the weather does not improve.

Upwards I go! As dusk begins ill try to find a well hiden place to rest for darkest and coldest hrs of night. Naturally if any caves are found, I must explore them as well. Roads and traveled paths, if any would be avoided.

(Let me know if from the top of the mointain I see any setlements?, dont know if I would get distracted by a cave before that happens or otherwise)

There are only a few easily traveled paths heading up the mountain, but you do not see anyone else. Rain continues to lash down at you from above. There is a small rock overhang near the summit that looks to be dry and somewhat sheltered from the rain, but not a true cave

Just out curiosity I would take some rock and soil samples. I would rest on said dry overhang. The next day I would take out the surface map and compas and head twords the nearest big castle ruin structure/tile in the surface map.

The soil has a much higher rad concentration than surrounding areas on Sumati (the whole island has above average rads) It is poor, and heavily mixed with ash

Forever alone Fermia mutters to herself "Intresting by the shore the readings where normal, but as I get closer the radiation levels are increasing. I wonder if there was a nuclear fallout in this island from bombs or failed reactors" Then she would put on the vac suit and rest for the night. For her trip closer to the ruins in the surface map she would check radiation levels often, if they are dangerously high she would put on the vac suit on again. (Can organic purification protocols or major organ restoration treat reasonable amounts of radiation poisioning?)

From the top of the mountain you see a half crumbling castle in the distance. It has a tower in each corner, the defensive stonework on top dislodged in some areas. The windows glow orange from light within and it appears spotlights have been fastened to the more secure parts of the outer stonework. At this distance you’re too far away to make out guards or anything else on the walls

"Shitty videocammera" knowing that she will have to get closer to get a good look she prepares to get closer she would preapre her stealthy approach. (I have a survival kit, wich has a small manual that has tips and stuff, can I use survival or sneak to be extra stelthy as I get closer? Maybe cover myself in plants or mud, or maybe the blenket that comes with the survival kit has some camuflage on one side) Fermia would Also look at the rad readings she has been recording and also point the survey scanner at the castle, curious to see of the castle could possibly be the source of the radiation.

(Sneak is used for stealth. The survival kit only boosts survival. We would definitely need a sneak/dex) The radiation readings up in the mountainous highlands are a bit reduced but begin to climb as you descend. The scanner would need to be in proximity of the castle to tell you anything more.

(21/4 , 22/4) There is a clink as the dog's chain is cut, and it comes bounding out of the woods toward you, currently 25m away

I quickly get behind the stump for as much cover as I can and shoot the dog with the laser gun, on burst mode. "I don't want to do this, but you've forced my hand!" (12/7) on the dog.

The dog slumps to the side, quivering, though shot through the head. The two hunters return fire, the first shot strikes the stump, blowing wood chips and cordite smoke in your face, a second shot hits you center mass (other is a crit, for 10 damage)

There is a pained cry as the shot hits him through the woodline, rewarded by the sound rather than by seeing them. The sudden injury on their side fouls their aim, ruining their carefully lined up shots (both miss). You begin hearing more dogs, and more shouting voices in the nearby woods, though they do not sound close enough to become an immediate problem, just yet

This one does not have time to scream, though you hear the unmistakable sound of the round entering flesh. struggling with his wounds, the second hunter misses again, cursing loudly, and calling for help

Another shot is fired, though misses, and you break contact with the wounded hunter. You hear dogs howling, and other shouting voices but he dense foliage makes it hard to see them or accurately gauge how far away they might be.

Your radio seems to be bothered by jamming or some kind of tracing attempt at first as you make your way through the mountains, closing in on the leveled off peak where you spent time out of the storm before. Heading down the mountain is a trickier prospect with the sandy ground of the trail below your feet. It slides as you move down the hill, kicking up dust and threatening to knock you over as you continue to move. You continue to hear barking and shouts. It sounds like only one group has had the sense to try to make it up this far. No doubt with waiting to heal the dogs found some traces of blood

Fermia would keep running unless it was clear that the dogs are gaining on her. (let me know if i need to roll exert or saving throws?)

The dogs do begin to gain, loosed from their leashes at the scent of blood. You see two of them crest the top of the hill as you are near the base, the dogs 100m away. They snark and growl, and more importantly bark to illuminate their human handlers

(I gave my assault suit to a sailor in the sea before entering the sub. So the 21, 22, and 24(crit) have hit me for 4, 4 and 10 damage for a total 18 damage, the 14, 7, 9 , 6, and 12 have missed. My hp started at 23, went down to 5 and then I healed it by 14 to 19.)

The remaining dog begins to rush at you its form rippling as rectifying energies begin changing its form. Two large bone spines fire from its back (one miss, one crit for 8). A shadowy robed magister ascends the hill, arms raised and chanting as the body shaping takes place. You hear the dull beats of helicopter blades, far out to sea

Fermia is frightened, she chooses not to use Mindtracing.

The dog fires another bone growth, (17/2), and its second shot embeds itself in the rock you are using as cover, the razor sharp bone quivers in the rock from the force of the shot. The magister continues chanting and you hear other shouts getting closer. Out to sea, a grey spec begins getting larger, still several kilometers out or more, but it is most certainly a naval helicopter

she tries to rationalise what is occuring before her with the monster, and the chanter. Maybe it's like an advanced version of Metamorph, giving the dog unprecedented mutations and strength. Maybe if I brake his concentration it will stop. I still have invincible stand, I'll try to take out the robed man Against her better judgment she decides to shoot the chanting man with burst.

The shot goes wide, hitting the muddy ground just before him, as the rain continues to fall. The shape of the helicpter gets closer, just a few kilometers out now, its chin mounted railgun should be in range in just another handful of seconds. (23/1, other one is a miss) The caster's eyes shoot open (dropping deep focus for accelerando) and a hand that ends in skeletal fingers points to Fermia (physical save)

A normal human would be dying now, but even with chunks of hair fair falling and burning, skin blistering, bones craking, and ligament and muscle starting to rip from the inside out, she carries on as her own tissue begins to quickly regenerate, somehow her vital organs continue to function. And she stands in bold disobediance. (Invincible stand is activated as an instant action effort commited for the scene 6/7 I'll need to commit effort once again on my trun, and any time I take hp damage from now on.) " Aim is difficult with a half boiling eye the other covered in blood. She raises her laser rifle, some fingers contorted backwards or precariously dangling from her knuckles. (on my turn I used effort to not die immedialty, used a main action to heal myself, a move action to ready a weapon, and I guess an immediate action so simply drop behind the cover I was in. Fermia thinkgs the dog might try to come and bite him soon and then she will stab him back, on her turn. I guess I go prone while also behind cover. But that seems better than standing upright right in front of the magister's field of view and the noises of more people that you spoke of earlier.)

grappled by the dog, it is very difficult to make your blows count, and it continues ineffectively scratching with its front paws It's jaws press down even more (14/6 if a 14 goes through) the droning beat of the helicopter blades sounds very close though you cant bring your eyes to the sky to see it, engaged as you are. You do hear the sound of it trading fire with the hunters, keeping them from closing in on you

Fermia struggles to do something useful after healing herself, but it's just to muddy. "Tooth and claw it shall be then" and anticipates more pain to come from this mighty hound.

Rounds whip over your head as it exchanges fire with the hunters and you feel the rush of warm blood spray you as the dog’s lower half suddenly vanishes. A marksman with an anti material rifle salutes and throws a rope ladder down to you, as the helicopters comes in to hover above

You’re pulled up by the crew chief under a steady volley of cover fire by the choppers heavy weapons. Pulled into the crew bay the armor door closes and no sooner the helicopter veers away, heading back toward the mainland

(cool my effort is back and I would heal myself to full hp.) "I kinda wanted to stay there and kill of them,... but who knows what else they had up their sleeves, last time they had magister's who could launch volleys similar to rockets in potency."

(The mission is overish but please wait for me to actually say so in future. I did have something else planned but now it’s just cruel)

Two speed boats launch from the island, moments ago if not more, sent to check the shallows if you’d decided to swim. They begin giving chase to the helicopter, their warning shots aimed poorly and missing

"do we have enughf fuel to get back to the mainland?, Or close to the sub? They seem very persistent."

“We should be able to get to the deck of the sub. Maybe. They’re all over us”

"I look at the marksman from before, do we have any ammo left?"

Fermia realizes that this shot is going to be difficult she's on a moving vehicle, shooting another moving vehicle from afar. She takes her best shot anyway, as she would much rather take out people shooting rockets at her, than have to deal with crashing.

(You're not yet, no) Two rockets , one from each boat, are launched skyward at the helicopter, their corkscrewing trails a cotton candy white following the fireball of their ignition, but the missiles did not lock, and both run out of fuel and crash into the sea a moment later

She would try to take out whomever is manning those rocket launchers.

The first of the fast running boats detonates , your shot evidently hitting some kind of a fuel cell or weapon magazine. Streamers of black smoke and twisted metal backlight the second boat, as the anti air rocket fires true. The helicopter is hit (16 after modifiers, only need a 10 for a vehicle/ 22 damage) , and the helicopter goes into auto rotation, shredding gears out of its engine and transmission. Burning rubber, fuel, and flame fills the cargo bay, and the marksman is sucked out of the open crew door. The helicopter is violently thrown in circles as the oceans surface gets closer and closer (crashing or thrown free, from this altitude its 26 damage as you inevitably hit the water)

Fermia thinks: Falling, oh what a wonderful experience, never had the pleasure to rapture and brake most of my organs all at once

The helicopter plunges into the ocean and leaves a greasy smear of wreckage across the surface of the drink. No survivors are detected or found, and the remaining motorboat heads back to the island, no doubt to report and allow the group there to determine their next move
